Most family law experts recommend reviewing your parenting plan at least once a year or whenever major life events affect the schedule, such as a parent relocating, a child starting school, or a change in either parent's work schedule. Children's needs evolve as the child grows, and a plan that worked when your child was five may not be appropriate when they are twelve. You may also need updates when circumstances change. If the plan has already been approved by a court, any formal revision should usually be turned into a new court order.
